“At such a time as this, the people who are seeking to keep the commandments of God should look for retired places away from the cities. Some must remain in the cities to give the last note of warning, but this will become more and more dangerous to do” EG White Manuscript 85, 1908.

The call has been given and the time has come, what do we do? Many of us find ourselves asking this question. The purpose of this website is to share information to support each other if you hear the call to leave the city. If God has called you, young or old, rich or poor he will make a way and this website is set up to assist you.

God has not given these instructions for no reason, he has graciously granted us this knowledge because life will become extremely challenging as the return of Jesus Christ draws nearer and it will be better for God’s people to live in rural areas because the environment, the expanse of green grass, the trees, the streams, the hills and the valleys and the fresh air, can help us to unclutter our minds.

Enoch walked with God in the countryside and then he would enter into the cities, remaining among the people, labouring to benefit them by instruction and example. Country living gives our children the opportunity to live in areas where the compelling pull of the world can have less effect on them.

E.G White states that is 10 x harder for your children to be saved in the cities. Nature can be one of the greatest teachers of the love, power and the goodness of God. Our children can learn to marvel at the wonders of God’s creation in the countryside more so than in the cities and towns.

The ability to grow your own food in a time when the majority of food is bought from supermarket’s will also be a blessing. Over 15 years ago it said that the big four supermarkets Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons sold over 75% of the UK’s food, and with the appearance of the discount food shops such as Lidl and Aldi, it will be even more now. What happens when these stores are shut for whatever reason or even worse when certain people will not be able to buy or sell due to not

following the regulations imposed on us by authorities. Country living provides the opportunity to grow our food which would be healthier, not with pesticides or insecticides which are detrimental to human health or filled with preservatives. Home grown foods taste better are healthier for body and soul and more nutrient dense and we can do as advised, “let food be our medicine and medicine be our food” allowing us to live with more vitality and vigour.

These are only a few of the benefits of country living. God told us in Isaiah 48 :18 O that thou had hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea. God only gives us these instructions to benefit us and our families, it would be in our interest to obey.

Hilton Samuel has a background in education, having taught for more than 30 years. Hilton is a skilled speaker and did a toastmasters course and won several contests competitions in speaking. Hilton is also know for his skills in presenting.

He has regularly presented at weddings, talk shows and a range of programmes within the church setting. Hilton is a lay preacher within the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Hilton later trained as a relationship counsellor and have been a regular guest on BBC’s ‘Late Night Dilemmas’, Passion TV, BEN TV, Colourful Radio, Life FM Radio, SLR Radio, Klimaxx Radio and have served as the resident relationship expert for Colourful Radio for over 3 years.

Hilton is married to Kimone and together they have three lovely sons – Tyrone, Andre and Alex.

My name is Trevor. I'm married and have four children. The three younger children are home schooled and country living is an important move that needs to be made and we are long overdue. My wife and I can really see the benefits to be had in making the move to the country and we're fortunate that the kids are in agreement.

The call to the country is one of those things that we never really paid much attention to, until recent years and even then in hindsight, we have moved extremely slow and probably wasted time doing things we really didn't need to do.

But God is merciful and despite our mistakes, He has not left us to our own devices. We're looking forward to getting into the country, gaining our independence, and being 100% about God's business.

Barbara O’Neill is a qualified naturopath and nutritionist she is also an international speaker on natural self-healing. She has raised eight children.
