We often have our own expectations that sometimes lead to great disappointments. But as we follow God, and trust in His judgement, our expectations may be met. We do need to have great expectations of what God can do and less of our own, and accept the things that may happen. Sometimes our expectations are not experienced, but it is how we deal with them that matters.
My expectation of country living was selling our home easily (it was a nice family home) and find that home in the country, a country cottage with roses around the door and a cottage garden. But, it took 15 months to sell our home and almost two years to find the place God had reserved for us.
What God lead us to was very different from my expectations. It was a derelict barn and farmhouse that had not been lived in for 50 years. Far from my expectations!!! But when you are where God wants you to be, He gives you the grace, peace and happiness to go through the difficulties may follow.
The main thing we need in moving to the country is much prayer, trust in the Lord that He will put you where he wants you to be and will guide you and take care of you. Even though your expectations have not been met as you planned, you will be satisfied and greatly blessed.
We have experienced this in our walk with the Lord in the country. So be open minded, say “Wherever You want me to go, I will go” Pray, prepare, work at it and expect only to be led by Him.
Psalm 37:3-5. Trust in the LORD, and do good; [so] shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.
